Green Quantum dots for Engineering Applications

Talk Abstract
 

Nano technological development of green quantum dots involves the design at small length scales with controlled physical and chemical properties that can be tuned or modified in function of their engineering applications. Green quantum dots has the possibility due to its unique optical and electronic properties, to be used in numerous engineering and technological applications such as bio sensing, solar cells, in vivo imaging, nanomedicine, Nano machines and Nano robots for specific drug delivery. Hence, there are almost numerous possibilities for efficient green quantum dots materials which are sustainable and environmentally benign. Utilization of these materials will increase sharply as there are increased concerns leading to pose potential risk to human health. Herein, principal characteristics, functional architecture of Quantum dots with their toxicity have been discussed in detail. hence, the urgent need of Green Quantum dots with green nanotechnology strategy for cleaner, non-toxic and energy efficient process is discussed.

Short Biography

Dr. Nandini Sharma is presently working as a Guest Faculty in Physics Department at Miranda House College and Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology, University of Delhi. She completed her Ph.D. from NSIT, University of Delhi in 2018. She has significant contribution in the field of solar energy especially in the industrial water treatment and elimination of toxic organic cancerous chemicals by photocatalysis under solar irradiation. Her area of research includes synthesis of nanostructured solar energy materials for establishing a green and clean society. Solar cells fabrication by utilizing green technology is another area in which she has been working since 2014. She is extensively involved in the solar energy activities at academic, research and community levels. She is presently the reviewer of various International Journals and Conferences like Solar Energy Journal, Materials Science and Technology journal, etc. The papers authored by her have received best paper prize, best oral and poster award, innovative pitch speaker at various international conferences. She is selected as Technical committee international member of 5th International Conference on Nano and Materials Engineering (ICNME 2017), Indonesia and actively involved in review process; Life-time member of Solar Energy Society of India; Life-time member of Indian Carbon Society, CSIR-NPL, New Delhi; Five years membership of International Association of Advanced Materials till year 2021 (Mjärdevi Science Park, Teknikringen 4A S58330, Linköping, Sweden). She has also secured second award for Innovative presentation, at International one week workshop on Teaching, “New Frontiers in Global Learning and Communication”, organized by S.R.C.A.S.W, University of Delhi and University of Massachusetts, Boston, USA (28th Dec’13-2nd Jan’14).

She has received Best Organizer award from Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences for Women, University of Delhi for the academic year 2011-12. She was elected as a President, Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences for Women, University of Delhi for the academic year 2011-12 and did several work for the empowerment of women.  She has secured second rank holder at University of Delhi, B.A.Sc. (Hons.)Electronics, Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences for Women, University of Delhi in the year 2012. She was awarded 1st position in Quiz Competition event “MEET THE PHYSICISTS” from “TECHNEXUS-2011” technical festival organized by S.R.C.A.S.W., University of Delhi. She has 12 publications in reputed refereed international journals and conferences. She has published a chapter in book on solar energy. She presented an Oral presentation of her research work in International conference at University of Surrey, Guildford, England, United Kingdom. She has also worked with IntellADAPT, Massachusetts, Boston for creation of Intelligent Adaptive Learning modules on Physics subject, (27-06-2014 to 04-09-2014) under supervision of Dr.Nishikant Somwalkar, MIT, Boston, USA.
